Here in the Everest, the climbing routes are made by the ancient trekkers before the several decades where we found the main two trekking routes: one which approaches the summit from the south-east in Nepal and other from the north in Tibet. During 1924 George Mallory and Andrew Irvine reached the Everest summit on 8 June for the first time but unfortunately, they never returned back. And in 1953, May 29 Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary made the final summit attempt through the southeast ridge route and came back. After this, there were starting in increasing the no. of climbers to the Everest Base Camp. More than 200 people reached the summit by 1987 Everest which was remained difficult climb for decades and climbed by the professionals only it seems like normal nowadays because of the beginning of commercial era by 1990s. Similarly, by 2012 and 2013 Everest had been climbed by many people. And 2015 was considered as one of the best years due to record-breaking numbers of climbers in a year but the earthquake with the magnitude of 7.8 on 25th April hit the Everest Base Camp and effectively shut down the climbing season. In the same way, 2016 and 2017 are also the best years, as many people climbed the Everest.

Everest Base Camp is 12 days trekking to the face of Southern base camp through observing the scenery of many stunning Himalayas. Firstly, we have to fly to the Lukla from Kathmandu 140 km (87miles). Landing at Lukla airport walking ahead leads you to the beautiful Namche Bazar located in the Khumbu region and the main trading center of Khumbu region people. Then for the hiking with the best acclimatization in the valley up to Bhotekoshi river to Khumjung (3970m/13020 ft.). Here passing the stunning Himalayas like Tengboche (3860m/12694ft.), Dingboche (4410m/14300ft.) and Lobuche (4910m/16207ft.), we reach to the Everest Base Camp by a flat field called Gorakshep below Kalapatthar at (5545m/18192 ft.). Returning back to the Kathmandu, the trek completed.

The best season for trekking?
It is necessary to know the weather of Everest region while you decided to go. Mostly, foreign trekkers don’t trek in monsoon period as the time is very muddy, rainy with leeches and one of the most important; it lacks the clear, proper views of stunning Himalayas. So, the best time for trekking in Everest region is in spring that includes March to May and autumn including September to November.

Travel insurance:
Trekkers need to have traveling insurance which covers the comprehensive expenses that might incur due to medical issues or accidents (this includes air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and medical treatment costs). Insurance companies in Nepal do not provide traveling insurance for the foreigners and the trekkers need to get the traveling insurance from one of the international insurance companies.
