Annapurna Base Camp Yoga Trek
Annapurna Base Camp trek of Nepal is one of the famous places for Yoga or meditation. Trekking accompanied by Yoga is a perfect blend to cope accordingly & manage stress. A lot of time we feel stressed because of our busy schedule.
Similarly, there are many yoga retreats that are done within a fixed location which sometimes doesn’t go as you have thought. Therefore, Trekking with the Yoga retreat in the Himalayas comes to rescue this situation. In this retreat, we have Yoga sessions along the trail. Itinerary
Altitude: 1,350m/4,428ft - Welcome to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal! Our airport representative will welcome you and take you to your hotel. After this at evening we give you further details of the trip program. Overnight stay in hotel
After breakfast we visit World Heritage Sites in the Kathmandu Valley which includes Swayambhunath Stupa / Monkey Temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Pasupatinath Temple. Then, join Yoga sessions in the evening. During the exploration we get to know the ancient history of Nepal and cultural, traditional values reflecting by the old monuments. The uniquely made structures, statues arts and architects are the main things to observe in each of these beautiful heritages.

It takes around 6 hours of drive or 25 minutes if flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Both the transportation offers scenic views of mountains along with lush green forests and terrace fields. Pokhara is known as the heaven place of Nepal. Here we get to observe many sights full of natural and cultural views. Mountains, caves, lakes and temples are the things of attraction that we can visit in Pokhara. Today we have our yoga sessions in evening.

After doing meditation in the morning, we went for about 1.5 hrs drive head to reach Nayapul. This is the confluence of Modi River draining Annapurna base camp and Burungdi River. During the trek we follow upstream Burungdi River and climb gradually for about 4 hrs to Tikhedunga. Thikedunga is a small charming village full of lodges. After arriving at Tikhedhunga we start the yoga sessions in evening. In Tikhedhunga we spend our night.

After breakfast, we will start our days by having sessions in the morning and walk with steep climb to Ulleri village. There are about 3,000 stone steps to Ulleri village which will take about 2 hrs to climb. This is hard for a while but offers the amazing moments including spectacular scenic views. From Ulleri the trail climbs gradually through the forest for another 4 hrs to Ghorepani at 2,800 m. Passing through the lush green forests, filled with rhododendron, laden flowers, pine and oak trees Is amazing.

Pun Hill is the most beautiful view point in the Annapurna region. We will hike for about 1 hours to Pun Hill at 3,200 m for sunrise view over the Himalayan peaks and our yoga sessions. One can see about 15 different peaks including Dhaulagiri I (8,167m / 7th highest), Annapurna I (8,091m / 10th highest) and Manaslu (8,156 m / 8th highest). After breakfast, we will head for our next destination of Tadapani. The trail passes through the rhododendron forest with few ups and downs of 400 m where we have our evening yoga sessions.

We will see beautiful view of Annapurna south and Fishtail Mountain. Firstly we have the yoga sessions in this beautiful place from here we will climb down steeply about 900 m and reach to the valley basin at Ghurjung River. After this we climb gradually along the mountain side to Chhomrong perched high up on the mountain ridge. Chhomrong is a large Gurung village at the corridor of Annapurna Sanctuary. Thus reaching at Chomrong we analyze the cultural and traditional values of Gurung people with their unique ways of living life. After all this stuffs are being done we start our evening yoga sessions.

We have our breakfast early in the morning and start to trek down to Chhomrong khola (river). Then, after this we climb up to Sinwa in 3 hrs. From here we enter into steep valley towards Annapurna sanctuary at the buttresses of Annapurna South and Fishtail. From Sinwa we will climb down to Modi River at the little hemlet of 'Bamboo' in 2 hrs and then climb gradually for another hour to Dovan (2,400m). Attending yoga sessions in evening.

So with slow pace we gradually climb to another hamlet of Himalaya in 2 hrs today. Himalaya has got two lodges where we stay tonight. After Himalaya (2,900m), we enter into sparsely vegetated rocky terrain and climb steeply. During this time we can observe the panoramic views of stunning Himalayas surrounding the dense forests trail. Today we have our yoga sessions in evening.

After having breakfast, it will take about 3 hrs to get to Mt. Fishtail base camp at 3,700 m. At Fishtail base camp valley opens up wide and bright with beautiful snow peaks. This periodic avalanche here provides the amazing moments of life. The trail to Annapruna base camp climbs gradually to the snowfield and the edge of glacier. From here we get the excellent views of mountains like: Mt. Hiunchuli (6441m) Hiunchuli (6441m.), Annapurna South (7229m.), Annapurna I (8091m.), Annapurna III (7555m.), Gangapurna (7454m.) and Machhapuchhre (6997m.). Having yoga sessions and meditationin the evening. At base camp we are at the base of world's highest mountains surrounding us in 360 degree.

After a beautiful sunrise view over the Annapurnas ranges, we will attend our meditation sessions. And after this we head down slowly to Bamboo. During this first part of the trail might be steep and slippery but with beautiful sceneries. Walking for some hours constantly, the trail takes us to Bamboo. Bamboo is a clean settlement of Mongolian people, where we get to know about their unique cultures and way of living in daily life. We do the yoga sessions after we reach in Bamboo.

We follow the same trail that we took to climb up till Chhomrong. Climb down steely on the stone steps down to the village of Jhinu. We settle into our lodge and then head down half an hour to natural hot spring pool in the Shore of Modi River. We enjoy the natural hot spring first and start with yoga classes at evening.

Yoga with the beautiful sceneries in the morning at first and then we start walking continuously for maximum 7 hours, enjoying the nature along the way. All around the way get to observe the spectacular Himalayan views and hilly environment and we reach Pothana.

View the last panoramic Himalayas views and have the yoga sessions, we trek to Dhampus Phedi (920m) walking (4 hrs) drive back to Pokhara by private vehicle do half day Pokhara sightseeing including Davis Fall, Gupteswori Cave, Tibetan Refugee Camp, if you have a time boating in the Fewa Lake and stay in a Pokhara hotel. Yoga aswell in the evening.

Trekking Group Size
We organize trekking in Kanchenjunga region for any number of people. If the group consists of more than 16 pax, we will split the group and arrange accordingly. We will assign one trek leader, one assistant leader for the group of four pax and porters (one porter between two members ) to carry members luggage. This arrangement ensures that the group can still go ahead as scheduled itinerary despite any member gets sick on the way in the trekking. -
Experience and Health Requirements
Kanchenjunga trekking is considered a moderate trek suitable for those who can hike for 5 – 7 hours a day. Obviously hiking in the high altitude will not be so easy rather physically more demanding, however our itinerary is scheduled for the proper acclimatization while gradually gaining the altitude in the trekking. It will be advisable to have some walking and hiking or other outdoor activities for more than two weeks which will contribute to comfortable accomplishment in reaching Kanchenjunga No technical skills or use of crampons are required for this trekking. It is highly recommended for the trekkers to consult with the doctors before coming for this trekking. Trekkers who have asthma, allergy or any other diseases related to hurt, lungs should take more precaution for this trekking. -
Travel Insurance
Trekkers need to have traveling insurance which covers the comprehensive expenses that might incur due to medical issues or accidents (this includes air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and medical treatment costs). Insurance companies in Nepal do not provide travelling insurance for the foreigners and the trekkers need to get the travelling insurance from one of the international insurance companies. Sunrise Adventure Trek will have accident insurance for the trekking staff. -
Accommodations
Accommodation in Kathmandu will be arranged on twin sharing basis on BB plan except the extra cost for the single supplement (depending on the room availability ) according to the choice of the standard of the hotels before and after the trekking. Accommodation during the trekking will be arranged at standard teahouses/ lodges with unheated rooms with wooden beds and foam mattresses on twin sharing basis. The trekkers will have to share washing and toilet facilities. If the trekker is a solo traveler, he/she will have to share a room with the trekker of same sex. -
Meals
Trekkers are provided three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) during Kanchenjunga trekking. They can enjoy wide variety of food from typical Nepali food, Tibetan food to all types of international cuisine (Continental, Italian, and Indian.). Unlike other trekking companies, Sunrise AdventureTrek allows trekkers to choose the food from the menu at the hotel / lodges in the trek. When the group is too big for the hotels/ lodges to provide individual dishes, set menu will be arranged in most places. We use the lodges / hotels which serve hygienic, nutritious and good food for the trekkers for them to get enough energy for the hiking. -
Acclimatization
Any trekker can get altitude sickness while trekking in the high altitude despite strong physically fitness. What is important is giving enough time for the proper acclimatization for the trekking. Sunrise Adventure Trek has planned the itinerary with gradual altitude gain giving enough time for acclimatization for the trekkers. Hiking slowly specially in the high altitude help prevent AMS ( Acute Mountain Sickness ). If anyone feels dizzy, suffer palpitation or severe headaches and loss of appetite, he / she will be moved to the lower altitude immediately or arrange the helicopter rescue in the severe case of AMS and the client has to pay for it. -
Equipment and Packing List
A variety of clothing is necessary for the Kanchenjunga trek. While choosing the equipment trekkers need give emphasis on two simple aspects: Lightweight and Functional. The items should be lightweight, dependable, and adaptable to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The quality of the trekking equipment you choose has a lot to do with how warm, dry, and safe you will remain. For this reason you have to be critical of quality and the proper fit of clothing. -

Porter Care
We are strongly committed to the porters rights. We make sure that they are well paid and have the proper clothing, foot ware and shelter. We are aware that no porter should be asked to carry a load that is too heavy for their physical abilities and the weight limit should be adjusted for altitude, weather and trail condition. We request our members not to have more than 15 kg weight of luggage to give to the porters. Porters who become sick while in the trekking are treated with high priority just like the other trekking staff or the members. If needed helicopter is sent and rescued in case of sever condition of sickness or accident. All porters are insured for sickness and accident. -
Season
Nepal, as a tourist destination is good for all seasons, however, the best seasons for trekking to Kanchenjunga region are Spring (March – May) and Autumn (mid Sept. – mid Dec. ). Trekking in autumn season is noted for clear weather and excellent views of silvery mountains against blue sky. It gets colder towards the end of December. This trek can be done in any month except January and February.
