Langtang Tamang Heritage Trekking is a newly opened route and is widely popular in the Langtang region. The trek provides a peek into the daily lifestyle of the Tamangs, Nepali mountain dwellers from the Langtang Region. Descendants from Tibet, the Tamangs maintain an untouched culture. The trail passes through traditional Tamang villages where life, culture, and crafts have remained unchanged. This trek is ideal for those who want to experience traditional and untouched heritage. Additionally, the trek offers a wilderness experience through alpine terrain, flat meadows, and rhododendron forests. You can also opt for a Langtang helicopter tour for a day trip.

Experience Tibetan Buddhist cultures up close and enjoy scenic views of Mount Ganesh Himal and the Langtang ranges. Trekkers will also have the opportunity to observe local dances such as Syabru and Mane at Goljung and Gatlang VDCs. The villages also offer exclusive handicraft items like traditional caps and mufflers. Tourists can enjoy a hot bath in the healing hot-water spring at Tatopani before reaching Nagthali, where the stay is a unique experience. The return journey follows the same route, reminding us of the beauty we have left behind, before finally heading back to Kathmandu.

Itinerary

Altitude: 1,350m/4,428ft - Welcome to Kathmandu, our Sunrise Adventure Trek airport representative will welcome you to the airport then transfer you to your hotel. At evening we will give you the short briefing and further details of the trip program. Overnight stay in the hotel

Early in the morning, we take a scenic drive to Syabrubeshi. We drive along the bank of Trishuli River and even get to see the glances of Ganesh Himal along with stunning Annapurna ranges. Through the greenery, we reach a small village and Nepal. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner and finally an overnight stay in trekking lodge.

Today we will trek to Goljung’s Rongga Bhanjyang. Some of the Himalayas and valleys like Ganesh Himal, Gosainkunda range, Sishapangma, Langtang Lirung and the Goljung Valley can be seen from here. Traveling along the mountain road, we enter into the small and beautiful village, Syabrubesi in about 4 hours. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner and finally an overnight stay in trekking lodge.

This days trek is short and beautiful that leads us to a small village, also the origin of Tamang Ethnicity. Upon the arrival we are welcomed by cultural song and dance. You can observe their day-to-day lifestyle and see beautiful houses made up of wood and stones. Now passing the Goljung village, we see the fascinating views of Langtang Lirung. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner and finally an overnight stay in trekking lodge.

Today we trek to Tatopani which means “Hot Water” and is clearly distinguishable as we can see and take a bath in warm natural water of lap of the mountain, locals believe this water eases away all your pains and aches. We pass through Chilime Hydropower dam and then we ascend up to reach Tatopani. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner and finally an overnight stay in trekking lodge.

After the breakfast we start the trek through Brimdang, cross Nagthali Danda (3300m) for beautiful scenery. Brimdang is a small settlement of Tamang people where we can closely explore the traditional and religious values of Tamang culture sharing cultures of Tibetans. After this, we ascend up to the hill called Nagathali. Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma and Sanjen Ranges can be observed at Nagathali. Then again walking through the downhill, we reach Thuman. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner and finally an overnight stay in trekking lodge.

Today we will get to know little about the history of Nepal as we will be seeing Rasuwagadhi fort which was once used by Nepal during the war against Tibet. We trek from Thuman to Rasuwagadhi, on the way we pass through the small villages with beautiful surroundings, Himalayan views, and lush green forests. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner and finally an overnight stay in trekking lodge.

From Rasuwagadhi we take a trail from Bhote Koshi River and arrive at Lingling. Later we reach a small village, Briddim and explore the Tibetan dominated society, we pass from the Buddhists villages with people following Tibetan culture along with marvelous Himalayan views and houses constructed by stones. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner and finally an overnight stay in trekking lodge.

Briddim is a great place to take a day off and explore around while enjoying the traditional cuisine and witness local indoor ritual and cultural practices. The region is mainly known for the unique traditions and cultures of Tibetan people and many Buddhists monasteries. So, today we spend a day here in the warm community. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner and finally an overnight stay in trekking lodge.

After early breakfast, we ascend toward Syabrubeshi. This is an easy down path where we can enjoy green terrace fields. As we already take the route and going back through, we can remark the amazing views and moments from Briddim to Syabrubeshi. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner and finally an overnight stay in trekking lodge.

This drive is made to be average yet exciting with many rises, mountains, town, and porches along the way. This time we take a local bus and return back to Kathmandu. You can do shopping or rest for half of the day. At evening you can join the evening meal and cultural program offered by the company, Sunrise Adventure Treks.

Today is your departing time from Kathmandu to your home place. Our airport representative takes you to the airport before 3 hours of your departing time. Frequently Asked Question

  • Trekking Group Size

    We organize trekking in Langtang region for any number of people. If the group consists of more than 16 pax, we will split the group and arrange accordingly. We will assign one trek leader, one assistant leader for the group of four pax and porters (one porter between two members ) to carry members luggage. This arrangement ensures that the group can still go ahead as scheduled itinerary despite any member gets sick on the way in the trekking.
  • Experience and Health Requirements

    Tamang Heritage trekking ranges form easy to moderate trek. This trek is suitable for those who can hike for 64– 7 hours a day. Obviously hiking in the high altitude will not be so easy rather physically more demanding, however our itinerary is scheduled for the proper acclimatization while gradually gaining the altitude in the trekking. It will be advisable to have some walking and hiking or other outdoor activities for more than two weeks which will contribute to comfortable accomplishment in reaching Tamang Heritage Trek. No technical skills or use of crampons are required for this trekking. It is highly recommended for the trekkers to consult with the doctors before coming for this trekking. Trekkers who have asthma, allergy or any other diseases related to hurt, lungs should take more precaution for this trekking.
  • Travel Insurance

    Trekkers need to have traveling insurance which covers the comprehensive expenses that might incur due to medical issues or accidents (this includes air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and medical treatment costs). Insurance companies in Nepal do not provide travelling insurance for the foreigners and the trekkers need to get the travelling insurance from one of the international insurance companies. Sunrise Adventure Trek will have accident insurance for the trekking staff.
  • Accommodations

    Accommodation in Kathmandu will be arranged on twin sharing basis on BB plan except the extra cost for the single supplement (depending on the room availability ) according to the choice of the standard of the hotels before and after the trekking. Accommodation during the trekking will be arranged at standard teahouses/ lodges with unheated rooms with wooden beds and foam mattresses on twin sharing basis. The trekkers will have to share washing and toilet facilities. If the trekker is a solo traveler, he/she will have to share a room with the trekker of same sex.
  • Meals

    Trekkers are provided three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) during Tamang Heritage trekking. They can enjoy wide variety of food from typical Nepali food, Tibetan food to all types of international cuisine. Unlike other trekking companies, Sunrise AdventureTrek allows trekkers to choose the food from the menu at the hotel / lodges in the trek. When the group is too big for the hotels/ lodges to provide individual dishes, set menu will be arranged in most places. We use the lodges / hotels which serve hygienic, nutritious and good food for the trekkers for them to get enough energy for the hiking.
  • Acclimatization

    A variety of clothing is necessary for the Tamang Heritage trek. While choosing the equipment trekkers need give emphasis on two simple aspects: Lightweight and Functional. The items should be lightweight, dependable, and adaptable to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The quality of the trekking equipment you choose has a lot to do with how warm, dry, and safe you will remain. For this reason you have to be critical of quality and the proper fit of clothing.

  • Porter Care

    We are strongly committed to the porters rights. We make sure that they are well paid and have the proper clothing, foot ware and shelter. We are aware that no porter should be asked to carry a load that is too heavy for their physical abilities and the weight limit should be adjusted for altitude, weather and trail condition. We request our members not to have more than 15 kg weight of luggage to give to the porters. Porters who become sick while in the trekking are treated with high priority just like the other trekking staff or the members. If needed helicopter is sent and rescued in case of sever condition of sickness or accident. All porters are insured for sickness and accident.
  • Best Season

    Nepal, as a tourist destination is good for all seasons, however, the best seasons for trekking to Langtang region are Spring (March – May) and Autumn (mid Sept. – mid Dec. ). Trekking in autumn season is noted for clear weather and excellent views of silvery mountains against blue sky. It gets colder towards the end of December. This trek can be done in any month except January and February.
